Sunday Morning Environment
Sunday morning starts off with singing. SBBC has a full band with a variety of musical styles. You will notice the band and worship team plays a mix of updated hymns along with current songs and choruses. A Volunteer Minister will welcome and greet the congregation with an inspirational thought and prayer. At that point, our Pastor gives a 30-35 minute message designed to be relevant, inspirational, and useful to daily life. We end with a few announcements for the week, the offering, and usually a special song sung by the band or a soloist.
Enchance & Improve Your Life
The App Store isn’t the only place you can find apps. Did you know that the Bible has also given us many “apps” to enhance and improve our lives? On Sunday, July 30 at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 a.m., South Bay Bible Church will begin a brand-new, six-part series entitled, “Life Apps: Enhance & Improve Your Life.”
There are hundreds of thousands of phone apps available for download. These apps can be used to wake you up, to show you where to shop, to help you count calories, or to log your exercise minutes. But they can’t actually make you get up, control your spending, manage your diet, or force you to exercise. Application is everything!
In this 6-part series, Pastor Hawley identifies the following life applications worth living by:
- Application Is Everything (July 30): Application makes all the difference.
What good is hearing if you aren’t doing? God’s standards for our lives aren’t for judging others, but for applying to our own In this message, Pastor explains that application makes all the difference.
- The Forgiveness App (August 6): Forgiven people forgive.
Does forgiving someone mean he gets away with it? If not, why does it feel so good to hold a grudge? In this message, Pastor explains how Jesus’ death on the cross teaches us to “release the grip of our grudges.”
- The Confession App (August 13): The goal of confession is not a clean conscience, but a changed life. Genuine confession leads to genuine
At some point in time, confession became a private practice used to relieve your conscience. But that’s not the way confession is presented in the Bible. In this message, Pastor presents the biblical view of confession and challenges us to confess to others – not just to God.
- The Rest App (August 20): Your life moves to a better place when you move at a sustainable pace.
Communicating the importance of rest was one of the first things God did in the Bible. So why have we neglected – or worse denied – the importance of this principle? In this message, Pastor illustrates the pattern God gives us for the pace of our lives. And it just may begin with a nap!
- The Trust App (August 27): Love bends … Believe the best.
When someone lets you down, can you choose to believe the best or are you forced to assume the worst? In this message, Pastor reminds us that we have the power to choose our reaction – and the response we choose may make all the difference in our relationships. Giving others the benefit of the doubt just may be the new Golden Rule.
- The Encouragement App (September 3): Replenish others and you will be replenished.
Our conversations average six criticisms to every one Is reversing this ratio the key to improving our relationships at home, at work, and in our everyday lives? In this message, Pastor explains the power of encouraging others—and what might be in it for you!
“People might be surprised that some of these are mentioned in the Bible and expected of Christians – not because they haven’t read the Bible, but because they know some Christians who don’t do these things!” says Martin Hawley, senior pastor.
